We believe character-building is at the heart of early education. Our little learners are nurtured to develop qualities like kindness, empathy, and responsibility. Through experiences that promote cooperation, resilience, and self-esteem, we lay the foundation for well-rounded individuals who embrace each day with a spirit of compassion and a love for learning.
Service
At our Preschool, the values of service and empathy are instilled in our children from the start. Our young learners are actively encouraged to participate in various service-oriented activities. This includes caring for their Preschool environment and helping with tidying up, looking out for their friends, and contributing to those in need within the wider Auckland community by donating essential items like food, pyjamas, and blankets.
We believe in ensuring that service isn't merely a task but an authentic expression of empathy. We engage the children in discussions to help them understand the purpose and significance of their actions. This approach cultivates a profound comprehension of how service can be a powerful means of leading and supporting those around them.
Transition to Primary School
Our commitment to nurturing young minds extends to preparing them for a seamless transition to primary school. The journey begins the moment a child enters our Preschool, as we lay the foundation for a successful transition. In small group learning experiences, children acquire various skills and qualities essential for their academic and personal growth.
Our learning experiences involve tasks that strengthen fine motor skills, reinforce fundamental knowledge such as letters, phonics, and numerals, and encourage early writing and counting. But our focus goes beyond academics; we also aim to foster independence, self-responsibility, emotional maturity, and high self-esteem. This holistic approach encourages independence, cooperation, active listening, determination, and decision-making skills.
To ensure our children are well-prepared for the next step, they have the opportunity to visit the Boys' School or Girls' School. These visits facilitate a smooth transition by allowing them to meet their new teachers, reconnect with old friends from Preschool, and participate in school-related activities.
Additionally, our Preschool children are invited to watch major school events and activities such as Celtic Day, Flora McDonald Day, Cross Country, the Arts Festival, School Musicals, Athletics Day, Swimming Sports and Chapel services. By collectively fostering effective social skills and communication strategies, we empower our children to actively engage in their learning journey—both now and in the future.
