Megan Storey Commissioned as Principal of Saint Kentigern Preschool

At the start of Term 3, the community including representatives of the Trust Board, senior leaders and family members gathered to celebrate the commissioning of our new Preschool Principal, Mrs Megan Storey.

Liam Jarvis, our Boys’ School piper, began the ceremony by piping the official party into the preschool. Among them were Trust Board Chair Mr Mark Conelly, Executive Trustee Dr Kevin Morris, Chaplain Rev. Reuben Hardie, Mrs Storey, Boys’ School Head Boy Ben Roberton and Girls’ School Head Girl Amelia Hardie. Mrs Storey was then welcomed to her commissioning with a karanga call of welcome performed by one of the Preschool teachers, Mrs Kim Lamb.

Rev. Hardie officiated the service, drawing from the 1 Corinthians 13 love passage throughout his message to encourage and uplift Mrs Storey in hope, faith, and love. Dr Morris then welcomed the congregation before passing on to Mr Conelly to undertake the Commissioning.

As part of the ceremony, the preschool students provided a reprise of entertainment for guests, singing E Toru Nga Mea, and offering Mrs Storey gifts – canvases painted and decorated by each class, representing our Saint Kentigern values and heritage. The Trust Board also presented gifts for the new principal, including the Saint Kentigern tartan. 

Mrs Megan Storey wrapped up the ceremony by addressing those gathered to support her. In her speech, she made clear her intentions to utilise the incredible spaces in the preschool to set a strong foundation for learning. She said, “In our vibrant classroom settings, learning spaces [will] become hubs of engagement, where ideas are exchanged, perspectives are celebrated, and children and staff alike are inspired to reach their fullest potential.”

We are confident that Mrs Storey will build on the strong foundation and lead the Preschool in an exciting journey of growth and development.
