Enrolling at Saint Kentigern Preschool

We are committed to delivering exceptional education to tomorrow's leaders. We eagerly anticipate your joining our academic community. Below, you will find essential information about our enrolment process.

Applying for enrolment

We extend an invitation to all prospective students to join Saint Kentigern Preschool. Our Preschool caters to boys and girls ages 3 to 5 years old.

  • We are currently welcoming applications for 2026 and beyond.
  • Please note that all applications for 2024 are now closed.

If you would like more information, please contact our Admissions team who will be happy to help you with your enquiries.

Our main-intake years at the Preschool are ages 3 to 3 and a half with limited places available at 4 to 5 years of age.

We recommend submitting your application two years ahead of your intended entry year. Please be aware that due to our high number of applications, not all students will be offered a place at the Preschool School. Students may also be placed in a wait pool while we review available spaces.

Enrolment Applications

To enrol into our Preschool, please complete our Online Enrolment Application. You can apply up to two years before your intended entry year. Upon receiving the application and application payment you will receive a confirmation and a copy of your application for your records.  Prospective students and their parents or caregivers will be invited to attend an informal tour of the Preschool as a friendly enrolment interview.

In the event of a successful tour, your child’s application will be put into our waiting pool and you will receive a written offer of place for your child when a space becomes available. This is typically 6 months before your preferred entry date.

To secure the place, a paper Enrolment form must be collected from Preschool reception and filled out, signed by both parents or caregivers and returned along with paying the Acceptance Fee. Please note that all these fees are non-refundable.

For further questions or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Sonia Oliver our Admissions Manager at 09 520 7696.

Are there any criteria for acceptance?

All applications are thoughtfully considered. Priority is given to students who intend to continue their educational path at Saint Kentigern Boys' School or Girls' School, as well as to children from current Saint Kentigern families and past pupils of the Saint Kentigern organisation.

Do I need to reapply for my child to continue their education at Saint Kentigern Boys' School or Girls' School?

No need for reapplication. All Saint Kentigern Preschool students receive priority interviews to attend Saint Kentigern Boys' School and Girls' School, ensuring a smooth transition.

What are the annual tuition fees?

Preschool tuition fees are set annually by the Saint Kentigern Trust Board and communicated to families in Term 4.

Is there a sibling discount?

A sibling discount on tuition fees is applied, with a 5% discount for two children and a 10% discount for three or more children at Saint Kentigern.

Is there a minimum number of days a child must attend?

While there's a three-day minimum attendance requirement for children, the exact arrangement can be discussed with the Principal. We offer flexibility in choosing between full-day enrolment and a 7- hour option, depending on staff availability and children ratios.

Do I pay fees for Public Holidays?

Yes, fees are payable for public holidays that align with your child's enrolled days when the Preschool is closed. This excludes public holidays that fall within the Preschool's annual Christmas closedown period.

What are the Preschool holidays?

Saint Kentigern Preschool operates differently from schools and remains open throughout term holidays. We close for approximately 3-4 weeks in late December. To secure your child's space for the following year, a holding fee applies. A 50% discount is available for a maximum of three weeks, which can be utilised for sickness or vacation.

What is the staff-to-children ratio at the Preschool?

Our Preschool is licensed by the Ministry of Education for up to 75 children aged 3-5 years per day. We maintain a highly favourable ratio of one adult to every six children, with the additional presence of a cook daily. Our passionate teachers, all holding a Bachelor of Education, ensure a high-quality educational experience. We rarely need relievers, as our staff-to-child ratio exceeds Ministry of Education requirements.

Are meals provided for my child?

Absolutely. Our on-site cook prepares wholesome and nutritious meals using the freshest, highest-quality ingredients. We prioritize additive-free foods for optimal nutrition. Special dietary needs, allergies, or specific requests are accommodated, and parents can send home-cooked meals for their child if needed.

Does my child need to wear a uniform?

Yes, wearing the blue and white uniform is a cherished tradition at Saint Kentigern. It fosters a sense of belonging and makes the morning routine simple for children and parents, instilling a strong sense of pride in being part of our community.

We are excited to welcome you to the Saint Kentigern Preschool family. If you have any further inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact our Admissions team. They are here to support and guide you through your enrolment process.
